"The True Story Of An American Punk Rock Band"

The hierarchy in today's music scene has changed dramatically. Over the past decade, most of the once mighty have fallen. Many genres and sub-genres have come in and out of popularity. Never one to care about or follow trends, Pulley has become a prime example of an old fashioned, hard working, sincere punk rock band. Earlier in their career, Pulley was often labeled a "punk rock super group" or a "side project." True, the band was made of several veterans in the So-Cal punk rock scene. Scott Radinsky of Ten Foot Pole, Jim Cherry and Jordan Burns of Strung Out, and Matt Riddle of Face to Face had all been around the block in their respective bands. But Pulley was no side project. In reality, five friends were fed up with dollar signs and marketing strategies. They longed to make music for the reasons they did back in the garage when they were teenagers. It was all about fun. Pulley came together and became the "everyman" punk rock band. This was not for the mascara wearing, Hot Topic crowd in tight fitting jeans. There was no fashion sense or image here. There was no manager or business model to follow. This was about adventure---getting in a van with your buddies and going out on the road to play for anyone who would listen. All they armed themselves with was honest music and lyrics that anyone could relate to. What would you do if you got kicked out of your own band? "Pulley: The True Story of an American Punk Rock Band" answers that question from the perspective of the "X-members" who decided they wanted to make music fun again. This informative DVD tells the story of the first ten years of Pulley, from the band's humble beginnings as castoffs from other established bands to successfully carving a niche in the punk rock world with multiple records and tours. Their tale is set to songs from the band's entire catalog and packed with in depth interviews of past and present members, backstage antics, flyers, and live footage captured from tiny basement shows in the suburbs to giant festivals in third world countries. Pulley have released five full-length records on Epitaph and contributed many songs to countless compilations. As they prepare to begin work on the sixth record, Scott Radinsky (vocals) and Mike Harder (guitar), Jim Blowers (guitar), Tyler Rebbe (bass) and Tony Palermo (drums) want to share their story. This documentary is a must see for any true punk rock fan.

what bands/music had the biggest influence on your music/life:
Earlier in life it was all about hard rock. Bands like Iron Maiden, Motley Crue, Judas Priest, Kiss. Later in life bands like Led Zep, Quicksand, Bob Marley, and much of the punk rock scene came into the picture. If I were stranded I would have to have Bob Marley, not only for his musical approach but also his lyrical and spiritual prowess.
favorite book/movie:
For pure entertaiment reasons I'd say Motley Crue's The Dirt is an excellent read. I love to golf so I'm going to have to go with Caddyshack as my fav movie. So many great lines.

when not in Pulley I play in UL and Kidneys. I also run with my dog, eat Thai food with my wife and play golf.

Turn down the stress meter. Learn to see through the system and not give in to what "the man" is trying to sell you. Find your own comfort zone.

To Japan: Can I please come back and not be sick the whole time while living in my little room and not seeing anything other than the Domino's Pizza guy delivering to me and calling me "Mr. David" everyday for no reason.
To Australia and New Zealand: Aw, nevermind. You Rule!
